HRB/16/Evaluation workshop - HRB drug and alcohol evidence review series:Evaluation workshop for drugs and alcohol taskforces

The HRB requires an evaluation expert or team to prepare to facilitate a workshop which will lead to identification of shared outcomes among the organisations and services responsible for delivering interventions in the area of recovery from substance abuse. Representatives of local and regional drug and alcohol taskforces will attend the workshop. HRB drugs and alcohol evidence review series The purpose of the HRB drug and alcohol evidence review series is to support the use of research-based knowledge in decision making around responses to the drugs situation in Ireland. Each review examines a topic relevant to the drugs situation in Ireland and is intended to be used as a resource document by drug and alcohol taskforces, service providers, practitioners, policy makers, researchers and others working in this area. Topics for reviews are selected following identification of particular information gaps and consideration of how the review will contribute to evidence-based selection and implementation of effective responses. The HRB published the first two drug and alcohol evidence reviews in December 2014 and plan to publish a third review in early 2016. One of the key recommendations from the reviews was the need for taskforces to agree on shared outcomes which could be used to measure the impact of interventions in these areas. This would also provide the opportunity for separate organisations to share knowledge on implementation of these interventions for a national picture of these interventions to emerge.
