Bord Iascaigh Mhara - European Perch & RAMP Trials

The RFT has ended, you cannot answer the invitation.

The eco intensification of pond systems has been identified by the EU as having particular potential for expansion of Europe’s seafood production. Furthermore the EU is keen to see the utilisation of non agricultural land for food production utilising aquaculture. BIM is currently involved in a number of programmes aimed at assessing the potential of cutaway peatlands for aquaculture. As part of this process a commercial trial is now being considered. Central to the economic viability of such systems is the provision of out of season juveniles of sufficient quality and size to be stocked into split ponds in Spring. BIM requires the services of a specialist perch hatchery to provide juveniles for such a project and the subsequent growth of these juveniles at a licensed facility within a Recirculating Aquaculture Multitrophic Pond system (RAMP). This project will explore the technical and economic feasibility of an innovative process and develop or introduce to the market new aquaculture species with good market potential under new and improved production process’s. BIM would now like to invite tenders for the provision of production of out of season genetically selected perch and the operation of a RAMP trial. This contract will cover the duration of the project from December 2015 until December 2016. The project subject to performance review may be extended for up to a maximum of two further years. Please see section 2 for a full summary of requirements
