The CD spectrometer system covered by this specification is intended to provide the NRF with structural information of biomolecules and synthetic biomimetic polymers. The spectrometer will be part of a national platform for molecular characterisation and must be user-friendly and well suited to serve multiple users. The ability for temperature-controlled (ramping) measurements will be emphasized, including the ability to acquire CD vs. Temperature curves at more than one wavelength in a single continuous-temperature-ramping experiment (with the sample temperature recorded for each discrete measurement). The ability for simultaneous data acquisition (e.g. CD, true UV-VIS Absorbance, Fluorescence, Temperature, Single- and Multi- Wavelength Thermal Melt analysis) is sought and the ability to configure for the acquisition of Linear Dichroism data is also preferred. The spectrometer must use a photodiode solid state detection system and must also be capable of being integrated into a high- throughput automated system. Data acquisition must include 5 channels of data, as standard, with each measurement: CD, Absorbance, High Tension Voltage, Temperature and Signal Voltage.
