CCC14- Conservation & Visitor - Conervsation & Visitor Management Co-ordination services for the Geopark Programme

Clare County Council is seeking to engage a part time consultant to activate, manage and evaluate a visitor management and conservation programme in collaboration with the relevant agencies and community representatives/groups for the Geopark LIFE programme for the period of one year. Where a Company wishes to apply, a co-ordinator has to be assigned to the contract. The role of the co-ordinator will be: • Collating baselines from the data collected in 2014 through visitor, observation and environmental surveys, condition reports and site assessments of the seven demonstration sites of the LIFE programme, namely; Blackhead/Fanore, Aillwee Cave, An Rath/Cahermore, Poulnabrone, Carran Church, Burren National Park and Slieve Carran Reserve • Utilising this data to evaluate visitor impacts and to develop, in collaboration with relevant site management organisations, a schedule of works for mitigation measures at each site. • Developing a future monitoring and management plan for each of the seven demonstration sites • Working with community groups and agencies to develop and co- ordinate training programmes in conservation practice and awareness of local heritage • Feeding into the measurement and evaluation of the social, environmental and economic objectives for the LIFE programme and utilising the EU ETIS Sustainable Tourism Destination Indicators to measure the impacts of the Geopark LIFE programme. • Recording and reporting on all activity and results. The co-ordinator will work in full collaboration with the relevant agencies and community groups who are the key stakeholders in the GeoparkLIFE project. This contract was awarded to Zena Hoctor, Heritage Services, Newtownlynch, Doorus, Kinvara, Co. Galway.
