Env03-2014 - The provision of design services for the strengthening of the public access structure to the beach at Corbawn Lane for Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

1.1 Introduction Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council wishes to appoint a Service Provider (consultant) with relevant multidisciplinary expertise or a Service Provider in conjunction with others who can provide the design services for the design of the strengthening of existing Coastal Protection structures at Corbawn Lane. 1.2 Site Description This is an existing concrete access structure to the beach at the end of Corbawn Lane, Shankill, Co. Dublin. The structure also contains a 225mm diameter surface water outfall pipe. This structure is been undermined by the action of the sea. The cliff immediately adjacent to the access is over steep. The structure is currently being undermined and outflanked by the erosion of the cliff. There is also a section of cliff face approximately 150 metres in length, fronting a residential area adjoining this site to the North. It is proposed to consider proposals for the provision of a low cost measure over this section of cliff face, fronting this development to reduce the rate of inward erosion.
