UCDOPP563 - ITT for Supply, Installation & Commissioning of High Sensitivity Sea Floor Pressure Sensor Pack

The UCD Earth Institute is a multidisciplinary research and education centre with a focus on creating and sharing new knowledge. We aim to contribute to sustainable solutions for many of the pressing Earth-related problems affecting societies now and in the near future. The Institute aims to develop a pilot system for determining low amplitude sea-floor pressure fluctuations in water depths of 500m > depth > 100m caused by non-linear ocean wave-wave interactions. Associated ground vibrations are simultaneously detected on a broad-band seismometer network, suggesting estimates of +/- 3,000 Pa seafloor pressure fluctuations, at 5 sec period. We envisage running two parallel detection systems as part of the sensor pack (i) tsunami grade system – as a background control (ii) pilot ‘economy’ system, which will be performance tested, using (i) as a control.
