A10/13/430 - Amelioration of the Virology High Containment Labs (Main Works) & Effluent Treatment Plant Room

Reference to High Containment Facilities within this Notice includes : SAP04, BSL3Ag, ACDP4/ BSL4/ CL4/ CAT4/ PC4 and BSL3/ CL3/ PC3 facilities with facility enhancements that include lab shower out facilities, HEPA filtration and effluent treatment systems. The works are to be carried out on the High Containment cabinet laboratory and effluent treatment plant room. The High Containment cabinet laboratory is located at ground level within an operational facility. The heat treatment plant is located at a lower level within the operational facility. The overall area of work includes work in the High Containment cabinet lab as well as in the technical spaces above and below. The works to be carried out under this procurement notice are in fact phase 2 of 2 of the overall works, where phase 1 consisted of the Mock-up phase. The works within the Mock-up phase comprised of two rooms with a total area of approximately 70m² located within the High Containment cabinet laboratory. The aim of the Mock-up phase was to achieve a lab envelope leakage rate in accordance with Australian / New Zealand Standard (AS/NZ 2243.3.2010) and to establish a quality of construction standard for the Main Works element of the project. The High Containment cabinet laboratory is located at ground level with electrical, plumbing, and ventilation services distributed from the above technical space and waste drainage to the effluent treatment plant below. The overall High Containment cabinet lab is approximately 420m² with a full technical space above and an effluent treatment plant room on the lower level.
