Stump Harvesting & Delivery Contract

Coillte are currently seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors for the harvesting of stumpwood from recently clearfelled sites, gathering into windrows, transport to roadside, shredding and delivery of the biomass product to an end user located within 80 km radius from site. It is Coillte’s preference that this contract is delivered as a complete service. The stumps are to be harvested using a suitable excavator type machine fitted with a customized stump removal head. Once removed from the soil, the stumps should be gathered together and stored in windrows on the site for up to 6 months to enable drying and weathering of the stumps to occur. The stumps are then transported to the roadside by forwarder and stored at roadside for a period of up to 3 months for further drying and weathering. When the biomass material is suitable for use (visually clean and at a moisture content ~40% using moisture meters), it is then shredded at roadside , loaded and transported to the end user.
