LakeAdmin is an Interreg IVC approved project which aims to assess good water management experiences in relation to lake restoration and share them across Europe. The West Regional Authority is one of 10 partners in this project which include the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy and Malta. Despite significant investments in wastewater treatment the quality of many waters is affected by internal and external factors such as sedimentation, agricultural run-off and other diffuse sources of pollution. These problems can be tackled by lake management and restoration measures. One of the key objectives of the project is to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies related to water management especially in the field of lake, pond and reservoir restoration and management. The project will create nationally uniform practices for the evaluation of lake restoration initiatives and establish guidance on the type of incentives that regional administration authorities can provide to promote lake restoration. The West Regional Authority now invites tenders for the provision of Scientific Assistance in connection with the compilation of a Scientific Archive in respect of a number of lakes located in the Region as part of the LakeAdmin project. Assistance is also required for scientific aspects associated with the drafting of the LakeAdmin Implementation Plan. This contract was awarded to Mr. Martin McGarrigle.
