UL0289 - SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF A HIGH RESOLUTION, 3D X-RAY MICROSCOPE FOR COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

This section describes the acquisition of a 3D computed tomography (CT) system that will provide high resolution information non-destructively of volumetric material morphology. The CT scanner will provide information about the interior structure of a material, including size and orientation of defects, existence of second phases and internal tissue architecture. Due to budgetary constraints we are particularly interested to hear from parties who can offer Used, Ex-demo or heavily discounted equipment 1. Multi-length scale imaging of the same sample across a wide range of magnifications, down to < 0.7 μm resolution. 2. User selectable magnification. 3. The ability to maintain high resolution with increasing sample size up to 300 mm in diameter. 4. Cater for a sample size of up to 15 kg whilst maintaining high resolution. 5. The ability to process a quick survey scan to identify a volume of interest before a high resolution scan is performed on the identified region. 6. High contrast phase-enhanced imaging for low Z materials and biological samples. 7. The ability to analyse a wide variety of materials, including biological materials (bones, tissue), fibre reinforced composite materials and pharmaceutical samples. 8. In-situ thermal mechanical testing (up to 3kN) by imaging at multiple points in time, under controlled temperature (up to 250C), whilst maintaining sub-micron imaging capability for 4D analysis. 9. Radiation-safe shielded enclosure with redundant safety interlock and "x-ray on" indicator. 10. Data acquisition software on a high speed workstation with graphics acceleration. 11. Fast GPU-based 3D tomography image reconstruction software. 12. 3D image-based simulation software for absolute permeability computation. 13. The unit to feature a lockable enclosure, fused I/O lines, auto shut down protection and earth trip unit.
