NUIG/CON255/13 - High Performance Computing and Storage Infrastructure for ICHEC - Contract Award Notice

This is a Contract Award Notice. This tender was for the purchase of a system that will form the basis for the third generation of ICHEC HPC infrastructure. It will replace the current Stokes cluster while the smaller GPGPU enabled Stoney system will continue through to mid 2014. As with these current systems, it is anticipated that the base infrastructure (comprising network, storage and service nodes) will have a lifespan of 5 years with a mid-cycle upgrade of the compute component after 2 or 3 years. Towards this end, it is critical that the base infrastructure be resilient and performant enough to maintain a useful lifespan of 5 years in a HPC role. In July 2013, this tender was awarded to Silicon Graphics Ltd, 200 Berkshire Place, Wharfedale Road, Winnersh, Wokingham, Berkshire, UK.
