(DLR 2471) - Pre-Qualification of Works Contractors Associated with the Development of Myrtle Square & Convent Lane, Dun Laoghaire

The site is situated in the heart of the maritime town of Dun Laoghaire. The space is formed by buildings along each edge including Argos, the cinema and a dance studio to the western edge, Bloomfields to the southern edge, Dunphy’s Pub to the east and the terrace of buildings on the far side of George’s Street Lower to the north. Convent Lane extends from the south east corner of the square to Convent Road. The main space is approximately 36m wide x 42m long. Convent Lane is almost 14m wide by 122m long. The present site has a run down nature to it. Cars and delivery trucks dominate the area and there is a lack of active street frontage throughout. The high level scope of the project associated with the development of Myrtle Square & Convent Lane includes the following; · The creation of the new plaza area · The reconfiguration of Convent Lane · The reconfiguration of George’s Street opposite the proposed square · Reconfiguration of the junction between Convent Lane and Convent Road · The provision of new and the upgrading & streamlining of existing services throughout · A landmark canopy structure withing the square · Realignment of the vehicular access through the proposed project area. The Works generally consist of: - removal of existing hard pavement surfaces. - construction of new canopy (by novated specialist) - construction of new raised planters - pavement works - new public lighting - soft landscaping - new traffic control table - realignment of existing T-junction - extensive integrated SUDS works - site fittings (loose and fixed)
