UCC/2021/15 - Framework for the supply of Rapid Antigen tests for Sars- CoV-2

The subject of this Framework is for the supply of rapid antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) diagnostic and relevant consumables (optional) to the Cork University Dental School and Hospital as detailed in the specification below. The Contracting authority intends to establish a contract for the provision of these rapid antigen tests. The reason for introducing antigen testing is to allow pre-treatment chairside identification of patients potentially infectious with Covid-19 at Cork University Dental School and Hospital. The requirement is for an oral fluid (saliva) based test. No alternatives to saliva based tests will be considered. Antigen tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of a specific viral antigen, which implies current viral infection. Rapid antigen tests do not replace the RT-PCR for clinical diagnostics, but are complimentary. A positive rapid-antigen-test should always be confirmed by RT-PCR.
