RFT/IRT/C-2020-01-OTG - Nature Based Solutions for Flood Management in Inishowen, Co, Donegal

The RFT has ended, you cannot answer the invitation.

The Inishowen Rivers Trust (IRT) are currently seeking to implement a Natural Water Retention Measures (NWRM) project in the area surrounding the village of Clonmany, Inishowen, Co. Donegal. The IRT have spent over two years investigating nature based solutions and increasing our knowledge of hydromorphology and natural flood management. During this time the Trust has engaged with the community on a number of occasions to discuss the flooding issues experienced and to raise awareness of nature based solutions. A key part of our preparation for ground works has been the completion of a consultants report on the opportunities for NWRM in Inishowen (Bourke et al., 2019, unpublished). The IRT have discussed the project with the OPW, the Flood Relief Unit at Donegal County Council and the Clonmany community who are in support of the proposed application. The IRT are now seeking quotations in order to apply for funding to carry out this project. Quotations are sought from suitably experienced personnel to design an appropriate suite of natural water retention measures and liaise with landowners in the area.
