Climate Change & Your Community - Preparation and delivery of a pilot training programme in Kildare entitled 'Climate Change and Your Community'

County Kildare LEADER Partnership CLG is the Local Development Company for County Kildare and delivers the SICAP Programme and the Rural Development-LEADER Programme and a number of local training initiatives. The focus of the LEADER Programme (2014-2020) is “To promote social inclusion, poverty reduction and economic development in rural areas”. The delivery of LEADER type initiatives and the allocation of grant assistance towards eligible projects is under the following themes and subthemes: Theme 1 – Economic Development, Enterprise Development & Job Creation • Rural Tourism • Enterprise Development • Rural Towns Theme 2 – Social Inclusion • Basic Services Targeted at “Hard-to-Reach” Communities • Rural Youth Theme 3 – Rural Environment • Protection & Sustainable Use of Water Resources • Protection and Improvement of Local Biodiversity • Development of Renewable Energy As part of the process of delivering the Rural Environment theme, and following discussions with the Eastern & Midlands Climate Action Regional Office (CARO) which is hosted by Kildare Co. Council, County Kildare LEADER Partnership CLG plans to deliver a bespoke pilot training programme entitled “Climate Change and Your Community”. In collaboration with the Eastern & Midlands CARO and in order to spur on the uptake of LEADER grant aid under the Rural Environment theme and to encourage local communities to improve their environmental sustainability, County Kildare LEADER Partnership CLG want to design a pilot training programme called “Climate Change and Your Community”. The programme would run part-time over a period of 8 weeks, starting in summer 2019 and it would be aimed at members of community groups in Kildare and tailored to their activities in the community. The training initiative will be funded under the Rural Environment theme of the LEADER programme. Tenders are invited to deliver a bespoke non-accredited training and support package as outlined in the RFT document.
