Advanced Assessment and Selection Services

The Policing Authority has a statutory function to make appointments, having undertaken selection competitions, to the ranks of Assistant Garda Commissioner, Chief Superintendent and Superintendent in the Garda Síochána. Selection competitions for appointment to the senior ranks of the Garda Síochána are competency based and competency frameworks, along with behavioural indicators developed for each of the ranks, form the basis for the shortlisting and selection process. The Authority now intends to introduce more advanced assessment tools and methodologies for its forthcoming competitions and is seeking suitably experienced specialist service providers to provide advanced assessment and selection methods for use in promotional competitions to those ranks. Specifically, the Authority is seeking assessment methodologies that are designed to provide evidence of competencies, knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes and motivation required for effective performance within each of the ranks concerned. Tests should include general leadership capability along with job related testing. The competition is divided into 2 Lots. Lot 1 includes the development and administration of an appropriate mix of psychometric testing, competency testing, personality and attitude assessment and situational judgement / job simulation exercises and Lot 2 is for the development and administration of Assessment Centre exercises and tests for senior positions.
