LANDFILLS IN MID-KERRY

The Tenderer is invited to submit a Tender for the carrying out of Environmental Risk Assessments of four (4) Historic/Legacy landfill sites located in Mid- Kerry, County Kerry. The Environmental Risk Assessments shall strictly follow the approach set out in the EPA’s document, “Environmental Risk Assessment for Unregulated Waste Disposal Sites. It will consist of Tier 2 “Site Investigation and Testing” and Tier 3 “Refinement of CSM and Quantitative Risk Analysis” phases. The results of the Tier 2 and Tier 3 phases will inform the development of the Site Specific Remediation plan for each site, which will provide an option or options for any remedial works required to remove or mitigate any potential environmental risks identified. The Consultant shall identify the preferred solution for each site. This Remediation Plans (if remediation is required) must be costed to facilitate planning and implementation of the Remediation Stage. The Tenderer will be required to carry out an Appropriate Assessment Screening and prepare any necessary Natura Impact Statement (if required). The Risk Assessments will provide the basis for the Kerry County Council’s application for a Certificate of Authorisation to the EPA as required under S.I. No. 524 of 2008 Waste Management (Certification of Historic Unlicensed Waste Disposal and Recovery Activity), Regulations, 2008.
