CDI_201808_RFT_DF - Evaluation of CDI's Doodle Families- An Early Literacy Intervention

The Childhood Development Initiative (CDI) invites submissions for an independent outcomes evaluation of a family literacy programme - Doodle Families. The programme provides literacy support for children in First Class and their parents/guardians through a balanced literacy framework with activities that include games, art, music, and stories. Based on the intended outcomes of the programme logic model, the evaluation team will: • Finalise the methodology including agreement on measures and numbers of participants (we would expect the involvement of 8 schools with up to 15 children in each); • Gain ethical approval from an appropriate body; • Make contact with parents/families through the programme providers; • Carry out pre and post intervention assessments in home and/or school settings; • Assess utilisation, including levels of uptake and factors that enable and/or hinder uptake and participation; • Carry out a 6 month follow up with the adult participants of the programme to explore their continued attitudes and engagement with literacy; • Suggest clear recommendations in relation to the replication of the Doodle Families Programme; • Work to agreed roles and responsibilities outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (which will be part of the contract), including regular progress meetings and reports.
