Consultancy Services for the preparation of a Core Strategy and Housing Strategy for County Westmeath to cover the period from 2020-2026, which will both inform and be incorporated into the review and preparation of the upcoming Westmeath County Development Plan 2020-2026. It is advised that following the recent publication of the National Planning Framework: Ireland 2040, Westmeath County Council is currently awaiting the publication of the Eastern and Midland Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy and/or guidance from the Eastern and Midlands Regional Assembly with respect to population forecasts for the region, which will inform the population projections to be set out for Co. Westmeath over the plan period and incorporated into the forthcoming Core Strategy and Housing Strategy. The Core Strategy together with national policy contained within the recent publication of the National Planning Framework: Ireland 2040 will have implications for the population projections and policies which have previously been contained within the existing Housing Strategy 2014-2020 and the preparation of the Housing Strategy 2020-2026 for the County must be capable of having regard to this. Due cognisance must therefore be afforded to any direction and guidance provided at regional and national level which relates to the Core Strategy and Housing Strategy in the preparation of these strategies throughout the review period. It should be noted that the Core Strategy and Housing Strategy which were carried out as part of the preparation of the current Westmeath County Development Plan 2014-2026 (see Chapter 2 Core Strategy and Appendix 1 & Chapter 4 Housing Strategy of the Westmeath County Development Plan) are available to download at: www.westmeathcoco.ie/en/ourservices/planning.
