01/17 - Surf Rescues Boats and outboard engines

Irish Water Safety requires an inflatable rescue craft fast suitable for extreme conditions in the surf with an experienced crew of two to rescue personnel from the water. It needs to be light and manoeuvrable and manufactured from hypalon. The IRB should be fitted with a 2-stroke, tiller controlled outboard engine 30 Horse Power with suitable modifications for use in surf conditions and around swimmers. It must also meet the specification of the International Lifesaving Federation for the Inshore Rescue Boat (IRB) competitions.
