Patrickswell Village Renewal Scheme – Phase 1

The village renewal scheme consists of the upgrade of the public realm and remodelling of the layout to improve traffic management along Main Street in Patrickswell and deliver an urban layout for the village in keeping with the needs of all relevant stakeholders. The proposed works under this Contract is Phase 1 of the overall village renewal scheme. The works consist of the reconstruction of 300m of urban roadworks along the R526 Main Street commencing at the entry to the village from the Limerick city side, at the Marian Grotto and finishing at the south western entrance to the Applegreen service station. The works are to consist of road realignment, narrowing of the carriageway widths, reconstruction of newer wider footpaths in decorative brick paving, with the provision of orderly road side parking areas, landscaped buildouts, the improvement of junctions along the route, to provide consistent pedestrian facilities including the construction of a signalised Pedestrian Crossing and several uncontrolled crossings, a raised pedestrian crossing, raised entry treatments, new LED low energy street lighting, grounding of overhead power and telecommunications cables, provision of new ESB ducting, Eir ducting, spare telecommunications ducting, modifications to surface water drainage, new street furniture (litter bins, seating, cycle stands and bollards), two new bus shelters, road resurfacing, coloured road surfacing, new traffic signs and road markings. The total area of the works is approximately 7,100 square metres including 3,665 square metres of road surfacing.
