SD/2017/03 - Review of Operational Models of Visitor Attractions

Fáilte Ireland is seeking tenders from suitable suppliers to complete a review of operating models for visitor attractions with a view to providing detailed options which can assist publicly owned tourist attractions to select the right solution for their needs. As the Tourism Development Authority Fáilte Ireland is working to develop the potential of all visitor attractions in Ireland to provide a better tourism experience and act as an economic engine for the local area they are situated in. Failte Ireland works closely with Local Authorities and other public bodies to help them improve their existing tourism offerings and also to develop new amenities and attractions for their area. Fáilte Ireland’s experience shows that the most success attractions are those that: • take a tourist-centric approach; • benchmark against other attractions; • build stakeholder feedback into a regular programme of improvements. However, we are looking to develop models that will also have a commercial element to enable a reduction of the level of tax payers money required to support the operational costs. Our objective is to develop sustainable attractions that over time do not require tax payers money to supplement operational costs.
