Kerry County Council has recently secured funding from the Dept. of Agriculture, Food and the Marine under the Storm Damage Scheme 2016 for repair works at Ballinskelligs (Reen) Pier. See location map on Dwg. 17661-0001-A. A detailed assessment and remedial design has been undertaken by the appointed consultants Malachy Walsh and Partners. The full extent of repair works will be phased subject to available funding. Phase 1 works, which are the subject of this Tender request, shall, in summary, require the filling of a number of voids under the pier with concrete grouting. These Phase 1 works are aimed at providing short-term structural stability to the pier and the underlying load-bearing stratum, thereby preventing further structural failures prior to the main body of structural remedial works being carried out in the future.
