AC/2015/02 - Project Management Services for a National Choral Project

The Arts Council Programme as part of Ireland 2016 is engaged in the development and delivery of a large scale choral, or ‘massed choirs event’, characterised by the participation of large numbers of non-professional choirs from across Ireland. The Arts Council will work with RTÉ and in partnership with organisations such as Association of Irish Choirs, Music Generation, RTE's Orchestras and Performing Groups, Philharmonic Choir and Cor na nÓg. To mark this moment a major new orchestral and choral work has been commissioned. It is suitable for performance by non-professional choirs and is approximately 20 minutes duration. The work will premiere at a free but ticketed event in a location of historical resonance. Midsummer is the provisional date for the event, with the main choral premier being supported by a programme of celebratory Irish music performed by the choirs and the RTÉ performing groups.
