An Daingean FHC Main Pier - CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR MAIN PIER SHEET PILE REMEDIAL WORKS AT AN DAINGEAN FHC, CO. KERRY

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine requires the services of a Consultant with expertise in civil and marine engineering to prepare a detailed design, tender documentation, works and handover Stage for the Main Pier Sheet Pile Remedial Works at An Daingean Fishery Harbour Centre. A condition survey was carried out on the Sheet & Bearing Piles on the main pier in 2014 and the Preliminary Report noted that deterioration and significant loss of wall thickness was noted on the southern 40m of the Main Pier Quay wall. The Preliminary Report proposed 3 No. Options as remedial works to the 40m of the Quay wall and are summarised as follows; Option 1 involves the removal of the fenders from the sheet piles, burn/remove sections of the sheet piles at each location and reinstall the fenders on the tubular piles behind. Option 2 involves the prefabrication and installation of steel plates on the sheet piles on which the fenders could be reinstalled. Option 3 involves the installation of a concrete panel on which the fenders may be mounted.
