Invitation to tender to to develop and build a collection management system for the Contemporary Music Centre
Detailed description
CMC invites submissions to tender to develop and build a new collection management system (CMS) for the centre’s collections and information resources. The CMS will be based on a data model developed as part of an earlier project between CMC, Digital Repository Ireland (DRI), and the Insight Centre at NUI Galway.
BACKGROUND
CMC documents and promotes the music of living Irish composers, nationally and internationally. The Centre has a library of over 10,000 works and 4000 recordings along with a range of information materials and documents relating to Irish composers and their music. This collection is a unique resource for new Irish music and forms a central part of the centre’s work, providing its users with access to the music as well as detailed information on music in Ireland.
The current system is based on a legacy database developed in FileMaker Pro, with associated digital materials stored in directories on CMC’s internal network.
The CMS will function as a complete system for CMC’s library collections and information, (see requirements below), and provide an endpoint to fully integrate with CMC’s website.
REQUIRMENTS
The CMS will based on the data model as outlined in the supplied documentation
The CMS will enable options for the storage, management and preservation of CMC’s digital assets.
The system will be built in a stable version Islandora CLAW.
The CMS will facilitate a number of defined workflows to be specified and agreed upon once the project commences. These include cataloguing materials, updating records, adding and replacing digital files.
The CMS will be built to allow integration with CMC’s current website, providing routine updates to any published content from CMC’s collections.

Quality of previous work and relevant experience (20%)
Ability to meet the specified requirements and proven track record to deliver projects within a specified timescale (60%)
