Short description Biodiversity Awareness Training Programme Detailed description Leave No Trace Ireland is seeking applications for the delivery of a Tidy Towns Biodiversity Training Programme in Mayo. The training programme would include aspects of the Tidy Towns competition which include;
• Community Involvement & Planning
• Landscaping and Open Outdoor Spaces in the Area
• Wildlife, Habitats and Natural Amenities
• Sustainable Waste and Resource Management
• Tidiness and Litter Control
• Community engagement
• Approach Roads, Streets & Lanes
Leave No Trace aims to support Tidy Towns Biodiversity Training Programme in Mayo ‘to protect, preserve and enhance biodiversity in community sites.
In order to achieve this aim, three biodiversity objectives have been set:
Objective 1. Take positive practical action to conserve and enhance biodiversity on outdoor spaces that the Community Tidy Towns Groups are currently engaged with in Mayo
Objective 2. Raise awareness of biodiversity and the local community
Objective 3. Enhance the opportunities for using the local environment as a ‘Learning Landscape’ to promote biodiversity within the community through a practical toolkit
The aim of the proposed Pilot Programme is to increase the number of Tidy Towns Community Leaders providing awareness of biodiversity and responsible use of the outdoors in the community. Funding will be subject to availability from LEADER. Leave No Trace Ireland will manage the development of the Tidy Towns Biodiversity Training Programme in Mayo. Leave No Trace will support the appointed trainer with;
Existing Biodiversity awareness resources
Access to current standard Leave No Trace materials and merchandise
Marketing and educational materials including biodiversity guides and certificates of completion.
