The Dublin Enterprise Zone (DEZ) has become a natiponal economic asset and on eof the main driver of the Dublin Region economy. Home to over 800 businesses, many o fwhom operat e on a global scale, the reputation of the DEZ has grown and it is now regarded as a proven, world class location, not only fir businesses that whish to come to Ireland to set up oprations but also for Irish businesses whishibg to scale up and grow into other international markets. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) account for many of the largest employers in the Zone including a considerable cluster in technology (including amongst other IBM, Symanatec, Facebook and Paypal) and life sciences(companies such as Westpharma, Bristol Myers Squib, Alexion and Mallinckrodt).
The Dez is located in Dublin, in the suburb of Blanchardstown, seven kilometres northwest of the city centre, within the administrative area of Fingal County Council. The location of the DEZ, on the edge of Dublin City allows easy access to 1.2 million consumers, and numerous suppliers.Its to date is in no small part due to the significant investment which has taken place in hard and soft infrastructure by Fingal County Council, IDA Ireland and the private sector over the last 20 years.
Fingal County council seeks to appoint a landscape architect to develop a landscape design sheme masterplan for specific public realm areas within the DEZ as indicated as indicated on the attached map (Appendix0. In addition to the development of the design scheme, the preferred tenderer will prepare tender documents, procure and manage the first phase of the project which include specified roundabouts and sections of road in line with the masterplan developed.
The DEZ consists of a multiplicity of different business occupying different sizes of buildings with different types of architecture. As the result the DEZ does not have a strong sense of place which the coucil is now creating through the development of the brand identity for the DEZ.
