Detailed description
University College Dublin and the University of Limerick are
tendering collaboratively for the requirements set out in this
Invitation to Tender. The tender is being run and
administered through UCD, however both institutions will
evaluate proposals independently and will contract with the
successful supplier(s) separately.
Lots 1A & B
The Nano Imaging and Material Analysis Centre (NIMAC) is
part of the School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering
based in University College Dublin, Ireland. The Centre
specialists in providing Scanning & Transmission Electron
Microscopy (SEM, TEM) and state-of-the-art analytical
techniques, training and services to industry and
academia.
This specification describes the minimum technical
requirements and minimum acceptable performance
standards for an advanced materials/surface
characterization system including XPS /AES /SIMS for the
analysis of a broad range of materials. This System will be
located in the Nano Imaging and Material analysis Centre
(NIMAC), University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. This
system will be used by NIMAC personnel to analyse the
samples provided by research groups from UCD and other
Universities as well as external industrial customers. This
instrument will be placed in a multiple user facility and
must provide ease of operation and safety to those in the
facility.
Shortlisted companies which participate in this tender will
be required to run analyses of test samples provided by
NIMAC, UCD and allow for a two day site visit for
demonstration of the equipment.
Lot 2
This is the requirement for the University of Limerick. The
specification for Lot 2 describes the minimum technical
requirements and minimum acceptable performance
standards for an imaging X-ray photoelectron Spectrometer
(iXPS) for the analysis of a broad range of materials in
support of research within the Materials and Surface
Science Institute (MSSI) at the University of Limerick (UL),
