7498 - Infrastructure study for BEMU operation

Iarnród Éireann –Irish Rail has a requirement for a consultancy service to undertake the development of Studies and Lifecycle Cost Estimate associated to the Battery Electric Multiple Unit (BEMU) operating infrastructure – battery charging system, sidings, turnouts, maintenance etc. – on the DART Northern Line, including but not limited to:

 

 

      The proposed operational pattern strategy, to be developed in collaboration with IE

      Functional, Technical and Operational Requirements of the infrastructure

      Architecture and specification of the charging infrastructure

      Specification of the track infrastructure modifications required to operate BEMUs (depot, platforms, sidings – including potential property acquisition - turnouts, etc)

      High-level Lifecycle Cost estimate and implementation Schedule of the proposed electrical, civil and track infrastructure on the Northern Line

      High-level Lifecycle Cost estimate and implementation Schedule of the Kildare Line (extrapolation exercise using data from the Northern Line)

      List of potential manufacturers / installers

 

The final deliverable of this consultancy will be a phase 1 Report, that will support the comparison of a BEMU strategy versus electrification of Northern Line, informing a decision on the ordering of new fleet to be operated on the new DART Line.
