South Dublin County Council is launching a new way finding scheme. A pilot project to be implemented in Tallaght in 2014 with a view to rolling out a larger programme over the coming years. The introduction of the system is South Dublin’s first integrated and coordinated approach to pedestrian way finding. The scheme is a pedestrian information system consisting of combination (map) panels, fingerpost signs to help and encourage locals and visitors get around our towns and villages with ease. The South Dublin scheme will be rolled out in all nine historic towns and villages in the County. These are Tallaght, Clondalkin, Lucan, Palmerston, Newcastle, Rathcoole, Saggart, Templeogue and Rathfarnham. The fingerposts and maps will facilitate and promote walking and cycling increasing activity and liveliness in village centres with social and economic benefits for all.
