The Central Data Unit is a newly formed team in the Local Government Management Agency focused on collecting and collating data from Local Authorities, with the objective of providing analysis back to Local Authorities to inform policy making. Currently there are 31 local authorities who have a multitude of data sources ranging from relational cloud databases with APIs, to manually collated single dimension documents. The CDU will work the LAs in divisions of themes or sets of related questions and have accordingly designed an enterprise level data infrastructure to facilitate operations in the long term. The architecture designed is set out in this RFT and the CDU is inviting responses to implement this according to the methodology presented within. It should be noted that the Local Authority is ostensibly using Microsoft technologies.
