The main aim of the TII Research Programme is to enable TII to carry out its mission of “providing high quality transport infrastructure and services, delivering a better quality of life and supporting economic growth”. Research is one of the key ways that TII informs operational policy and sets standards. TII's Open Research Call for 2022 consists of the following projects: Lot 1: A technical guidance document on the use of surplus peat from national road projects as a means of 1) restoring degraded peatlands and 2) enhancing and developing peatland biodiversity habitats Lot 2: Assessment of Noise Impacts from National Roads Projects considering the World Health Organization Environmental Noise Guidelines for the European Region Lot 3: A Review of appropriate facilities for Age Friendly Active Travel Lot 4: Social Sustainability in the context of TII's National Cycling Network and Greenways - Empowering women to choose cycling as their primary transport mode of choice
