Kenmare has a history of flooding and has been identified as an area at significant risk from fluvial and tidal flooding under the National Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Programme. Following the completion of the South Western Catchment Flood Risk Assessment Management Plan, Kerry County Council in partnership with the OPW wish to advance and implement a flood relief scheme for Kenmare.
Accordingly, Kerry County Council now seek to engage a Consultant for the provision of Engineering Consultancy Services and Environmental Consultancy Services to deliver a Flood Relief Scheme for Kenmare.
The objective pf this project is the identification, design and submission (for planning consent / confirmation) of a Flood Relief Scheme, that is technically, socially, environmentally and economically acceptable, to alleviate the risk of flooding to the Community of Kenmare to a determined Standard of Protection, and to procure, manage and oversee the construction of that Scheme.
Of Particular Note:
Kenmare town centre is a designated Architectural Conservation Area with protected structures. Significant consideration needs to be given to potential loss of walls, railings, views and setting which would be deemed to have a significant negative impact on the character and built environment of critically important parts of the protected town centre and protected structures.
