Ground Investigation Works associated with the Wicklow Port Access Road Pedestrian and Cycle Link scheme. The scope of work involves GI works on both sides of the existing railway line, and also within Wicklow Train Station. Works on the north side of the railway line are in agricultural lands and works on the south side of the railway line are with East Glendalough school grounds. Of primary interest is the nature and thickness of natural soils and depth to competent bedrock. There have been historical failures in the cuttings and any residual failures surface encountered during site operations should be noted. Works within Iarnród Éireann lands will be subject to certain restrictions. The scope of work involves: - 12 x Trial Holes to proposed depth of 4.5m bgl - 12 x Slit Trenches to proposed depth of 1.2m bgl - 2 x Infiltration tests to a depth of 1m bgl - 8 x Cable Percussive Boreholes to proposed depth 6 to 20m bgl - 4 x Follow-on Rotary Core Holes up to 20m deep - 1 x Pavement Core 0.5m deep In addition to the above, the investigation will include the following: Geotechnical laboratory testing on recovered soil and rock samples; Chemical testing on recovered soil and groundwater samples for concrete protection measures; Chemical testing of any suspected contaminated soils; Factual Report, including detailed plan drawings; Digital reporting of all field and laboratory data in AGS format;
