Call for Competition – 22000 ICR Spotlights (Ref: RFT 1611124-7403)

The Chief Mechanical Engineers (CME) department of Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) has a requirement, over the next 12-24 months for the procurement of 10,000 Spot Lights for the 22000 InterCity Railcar Fleet (the “Contract”). – RFT 161124 – 7403.

 

Contract Description

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ), as part of a midlife refurbishment of the interior saloons of its fleet of Intercity Railcars, have a requirement to replace all of the saloon LED down lighters.

The down lighters currently installed have been extremely reliable and have not been replaced since the vehicles entered passenger service.

The current LED down lighters are Teknoware 10-12VDC 3 x 1W (Pt. No, TVK8804B). The original LED downlighters were Teknoware Pt. No, TVK8803
There are number of overarching requirements for any new product;

i.         The LED must installed without requiring any modification to the vehicle (mechanical or electrical);

ii.        The LED must have the same length of flying lead and be fitted with the same electrical connector;

iii.      The LED must have the same colour rendering properties (Cool White);

iv.      The LED must be a proven, highly reliable product with verifiable data available to support it;

v.        The LED must be approved and tested in a rolling stock application;

IÉ have an immediate requirement for 4,000 units with an additional 6,000 units to be supplied in batches of 1,000 over the next 12/24 months. The refurb project is due to be completed this year but may stretch out to 2021.

For the purposes of submitting case studies, the following information should be provided;

·         Product Datasheet of Referenced Product

Only products which have been installed, fault free, for a minimum of 5 years can be considered to be a valid product.

IÉ are therefore seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced companies to participate in a Prequalification process for the supply of Spot Lights.

Participants must have experience with the rail industry, and a like for like product is essential. It must be compatible electrically and mechanically and be capable of operating within the space envelope that already exists.
