The Education Procurement Service (the Sourcing Body) on behalf of Institute of Technology Sligo (the “Contracting Authority”) invites tenders (“Tenders”) to this request for tenders (“RFT”) from economic operators (“Tenderers”) for the supply of the goods as described in Appendix 1 to this RFT (the “Goods”). |
In summary, the Goods comprise: The Institute of Technology Sligo, Ireland wish to purchase an integrated system related to the welding of plastic materials. The system must have the ability to utilise real-time process feedback/control algorithms that will increase process speeds and yields. The integrated system must have the following features: · Enable research and development (R&D) projects specifically aimed at high-speed through-transmission laser welding of polymer caps to containers (embed tooling details doc here), but also general R&D projects in the area of through-transmission laser welding of polymers. · Diode or fibre laser based polymer welding workstation. Diode or fibre laser coupled to scanning head by fibre (>5m long). · Galvanometer scan head (with real-time monitoring) to operate in the X-Y (2D) plane. · Automated part clamping function capable of applying up to 1000 N of force to components to be welded. · External PC preloaded with the required software control system that integrates control of laser source, the galvanometer head and the clamping unit. The hardware and software should include options for expandability. · Laser safety Class 1 system with fume extraction. Options for delivering process gases (Air, N2, Ar, He, etc). This is to include all required staff training on this equipment, delivery and installation. |
