School of Mechanical & Design Engineering

 

 

 

The School offers a range of programmes at various levels from apprenticeship through Degree and Master’s degree up to PhD. Disciplines within the School includes Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, Design; including Medical Devices and Product Design, Automation Engineering, Engineering Systems Maintenance, Energy & Systems; including Building Services Engineering.  The school provides apprentice education in Welding, Mechanical Fitting, Sheet Metalwork, Metal Fabrication, Industrial Automation, Plumbing, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.

 

 

 

As an innovator in the development of Engineering Education the School is currently seeking to enhance the range of programmes offered and is seeking to incorporate both knowledge and understanding of sustainable engineering design within its programmes. 

 

 

 

The Discipline of Manufacturing Technology requires new up to date equipment to facilitate the delivery of the new Sheetmetal and Industrial Insulation syllabus version 4.1. The previous syllabus was written in 2003 and the existing equipment is not up to the required technical standard required to deliver the new syllabus. Delivery, installation and commissioning of all new equipment will be in DIT Linenhall, Dublin 1.

 

 

 

The items of equipment required include two CNC Punch Machines, two Hydraulic Press Brakes, two powered Guillotines and one variable notcher. This is to include all required staff training on this equipment.
