Aircraft mechanics are employed throughout the aviation industry in a wide range of facilities designed to maintain light, rotary and large commercial aircraft. Aircraft mechanics inspect, maintain and repair airframe structures, engines, electronic and avionic systems. The programme covers Engineering plus an Introduction to Avionics, Aircraft Structures, Jet Engines and Systems. On finishing this programme, Apprentices are awarded the National Craft Certificate by Quality Qualifications Ireland and an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence by the Irish Aviation Authority. Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board in preparation for the launch of this Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering Apprenticeship at the Shannon Training Centre Campus are inviting tenders for the supply of a twin gas turbine engine airplane including transportation to Shannon Airport, County Clare, Ireland. In addition the successful tenderer will be required as part of the contract to arrange the transportation of the aircraft from Shannon Airport to the Shannon Training Centre Campus, Shannon Industrial Estate, Shannon, County Clare and to re-assemble the aircraft on-site.
