The scheme involves the construction of 1.15km of single carriageway road with roundabout junctions and associated cycling and pedestrian facilities in a greenfield environment. The road, located to the East of Navan Town, will extend from the junction of Metges Road and the Kentstown Road (R153) northward towards the existing Navan-Drogheda Railway Line. The scheme will also involve the upgrade of the existing Metges Road/Kentown Road junction with a fully controlled signlised junction. A new roundabout will also be required at the intersection between the new road and the existing 'Old Road,' and the construction of two further roundabout junctions to service future developments in the area. It is expected that the final vertical alignment will require 600m of embankments and 300m of cutting. Localised attenuation ponds/tanks will also be required in addition to the culverting of a number of local streams/ditches. Local services, including gas, power, water and telecoms, are expected to be included in the scheme. Significantly the scheme will also include the construction of major new trunk water assets on the behalf of Irish Water. Preliminary design details of which are provided below; - A 750mm internal dia. gravity sewer to 3-8m in depth - A 500mm dia. foul water raising main - A 500mm dia. ductile iron potable water main
