LEE363C - LEE363C-UL 3D Underwater Sonar Imaging System

The RFT has ended, you cannot answer the invitation.

The Education Procurement Service (EPS) on behalf of University of Limerick (the “Contracting Authorities”) invites tenders (“Tenders”) to this request for tenders (“RFT”) from economic operators (“Tenderers”) for the supply of the goods as described in Appendix 1 to this RFT (the “Goods”).

University of Limerick - The Mobile & Marine Robotics Research Centre at the University of Limerick (www.mmrrc.ul.ie) is focused on the application and development of practical and industrial relevant marine technologies including vehicle control systems and sensor development for remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) operation in challenging marine environments.  The centre is actively involved in a range of nationally funded, European funded and industry collaborative projects. The centre is focused on research and development of vehicles and systems for subsea inspection and intervention.

This tender is for the acquisition of an underwater sonar based 3D imaging system.  The system should have dual function in that it should be mountable on (1) an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and (2) on an over-the-side pole on a small survey vessel. The system should include (a) Real-time 3D sonar imaging sensor with top-end PC (b) Pole/mount for both ROV operations and over-the-side pole with quick release, single axis rotator and worm gear drive mechanism for single operator use (c) GNSS positioning system outputting accurate heave, attitude, heading and (d) position and kinematic post processing suite.

The system will enable delivery of a real-time sonar based imaging system which can create high-resolution 3-dimensional maps of the seabed environment in real-time. The system can output highly accurate 3-diimensional depth which can be used as pose information. The system is to be used within the MMRRC in ongoing research and should be deployable on vessel-of-opportunity such as fishing vessel or on the UL MMRRC light work-class ROV system, ROV Comanche System.

Significant discounts are expected for this equipment.

A minimum of 50% reduction rate from new commercial cost of equipment is to be achieved. This reduction should be achieved primarily through offer of second hand refurbished products but also through offer of academic or other available discount rates. Please be aware that some items are classed specifically as ‘New Items’. Also, please only detail offer prices within tender response.

SFI Opportunistic funding is being utilised for this tender process.
