Iarnród Éireann – Irish Rail “IÉ” seeks Expressions of Interest from Applicants for a Project to repower up to 24 locomotives from our fleet of JT42HCW Diesel electric locomotives manufactured by Electro Motive Diesel "EMD", designated by IE as Class 201.
The objective of the project is to deliver a significant reduction in fuel consumption based on current passenger / freight duty cycles and operational routes and also deliver significantly higher reliability.
The core requirement is for design, build and systems integration service delivering a repowered Class 201 locomotive that meets or exceeds current performance characteristics. Most or all of mechanical, electrical, cooling and control equipment above floor level will need to be replaced requiring re-design and systems integration. Existing control equipment in the cabs and equipment below floor level will be retained e.g. bogies and traction motors.
The tender will also seek optional prices for a new Cab HVAC installation and bogie overhaul as part of the proposed refurbishment.
The successful Contractor is responsible for delivering all aspects of the project e.g. re-build, commissioning, testing, warranty support and compliance with all IÉ and Commission for Railway Regulation requirements.
There are two lots, both are for the refurbishment of a minimum of twenty two Locomotives and a maximum of twenty four however lot two seeks offers to spread payments for the project over a period up to 10 years whereas Lot one has a traditional payment plan based on phases for design, delivery, acceptance, achievement of performance milestones and end of remedy of defect period.
IÉ reserves the right to select either lot 1 or 2 or not to award any contract on foot of this notice
