WPWOG Co-ordinator - Co-ordinator to work with the Wicklow Private Woodland Owners Group

Wicklow Private Woodlands Owners Group (WPWOG) was formed in June 2008. WPWOG’s main objective is to foster and promote the interests of private woodland owners in County Wicklow and adjacent areas. There are over 500 private owners in the county who own 11,685 hectares of forestry. The group has contact with 150 owners and has held several information days and produced a series of newsletters. In co-operation with Wicklow Rural Partnership and supported by LEADER funding WPWOG commissioned a Study “Private Production Forecast & Market Assessment 2010 – 2028”. This was published in December 2009. Among the findings the study identified the wish of private owners to learn more about management inside and outside the farm gate. Arising from this WPWOG is now seeking Leader funding for the following two projects: 1. Engage a Co-ordinator 2. Undertake a Training Programme to enable owners take a greater business involvement in the non-timber activities of their plantations (tourism etc.) This invitation to tender is in relation to the first of these projects. Final appointment will be subject to funding approval.
